The project goals are the outcomes or achievements that the project seeks to accomplish. These objectives ought to be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). Their role is to lead the project team and the stakeholders in a common direction and help them achieve the set goals and objectives. Unlike a schedule, a project schedule, however, lays down in a sequential manner the activities and milestones that are to be fulfilled to achieve the project objectives in a stipulated time period. It breaks the project into smaller, doable tasks and provides a deadline for all of them.
Along with these are the goals and timeline of the project which lead the way in this road to successful planning and execution.
