Your technology fee will cover two accidental damage incidents. The Technology Fee is $20.00 each year and must be paid by every student. Fees not paid will remain on the student's PowerSchool account and will be carried over with the student each year.
Fees will change for students after their 2nd break within the calendar year. Students will be responsible for the full repair from Apple. Example cracked screens run just under $500.00. The District will reserve the right to deny coverage for excessive damages even if it is within the two breaks.
Lost or stolen devices will be reported, and a $150.00 charge will be issued to the student's PowerSchool account.
A cracked screen that hinders the use of the device or a student could get hurt or cut by the glass.
A student's device will not charge. (Chargers are available for $10.00 to purchase.)

Unable to access the internet or apps closing without prompting.
Students are unable to login to Schoology or Google.
These issues can usually be solved in the classroom. Students should not leave the classroom until all troubleshooting tips have been tried.
1. Verify the device is on the correct wifi (DCSD_Internal).
2. Device is up-to-date (settings--general--software update).
3. Do a Hard Reset. Press the home and power buttons until the white apple appears.
4. Close apps on your device and close tabs in Safari/Chrome if they are not in use.

5. Unable to login to Schoology. You are probably selecting the wrong site. Click on the Home page for both Schoology and username help. A short video is also available for those who need a visual.

6. Missing the label from the back of your iPad? Email Ms. Rivers (diane.rivers@darlington.k12.sc.us) and request a new label to be printed.
7. Charge your iPad each evening. Shut it down or power it off when the device is not in use for an extended period of time.
8. Check your Notifications (Settings-Notifications) and Background App Refresh (Setting-General-Background App Refresh). These two items will drain your battery and should be limited to items needed.
9. HMS will have replacement iPad chargers for purchase. They are $10.00 and can be purchased in the Media Center. Students will be charged $10.00 when devices are turned in if they are missing a DCSD issued charger and cord.
