Joseph P. Golomboski Sr. (1959–2019) was a man defined by courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the beloved son of the late John and Teresa (Pascone) Golomboski.
A graduate of Rhode Island College, Joseph Sr. dedicated his professional life to serving the community, working for the Johnston School Department and proudly participating as a member of Laborers Local Union 808. His career reflected his strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication to those around him.
Joseph Sr. enjoyed the simple joys of life, including fishing and cheering passionately for his beloved Boston sports teams. He was a devoted father to his children, Alicia Golomboski and Joseph P. Golomboski Jr. He is also survived by his siblings, Charles Golomboski, Anthony Golomboski (and wife Gayle), and Maria Francis (and husband Joseph).
At the age of 44, Joseph Sr. was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease, a life-altering condition that he met with remarkable strength, dignity, and optimism. Even as the disease progressed, he remained a source of inspiration to his family and community, showing resilience in the face of adversity.
On Friday, August 9, 2019, Joseph P. Golomboski, 59, of Johnston, passed away peacefully at Cherry Hill Manor due to complications related to Parkinson’s disease. His life continues to inspire through the work of his children, Alicia and Joseph Jr., who founded Team Golomboski in his honor.
Through fundraising, advocacy, and awareness initiatives—including participation in the APDA Rhode Island Optimism Walk since 2014—Team Golomboski carries forward his legacy, raising over $20,000 for the American Parkinson Disease Association Rhode Island Chapter.
Joseph Sr. is remembered as a man of strength, integrity, and compassion—a devoted father and community member. His life and legacy live on through his family and the countless individuals inspired by his courage and love.
