We are youth-led initiative at Westview High School dedicated to researching the socio-economic evolution of Chinese-American businesses in San Diego.
Through field visits to early Chinese immigrant storefronts and modern Chinese enterprises, we deeply examine how the legal environments of different historical periods—such as legal restrictions during the exclusion era and modern commercial protection laws—impacted the survival and current state of Chinese businesses.
At the same time, we firmly believe that academic research should give back to the community. By hosting fundraising charity sales featuring cultural and artistic products (such as hand-painted bags and traditional Dali indigo tie-dye), we are committed to providing tangible financial and academic support for the House of China and the preservation of local Asian Pacific Islander (API) cultural heritage.
Our mission is to connect history, community service, and youth leadership while also promoting the cultures throughout San Diego.
