A student from New Delhi with the initials YG (20 years old) said that he had felt disappointed and sad because he could not enjoy and celebrate the tradition of the Duwali festival as before with his family. This is because since the Indian government issued a policy, in the form of a ban on celebrating the Diwali Festival using fireworks, especially firecrackers. YG feels it is unfair because the government has made the values and traditions of the people disappear.
He himself is also aware that it is true that the use of firecrackers is one of the causes of increased air pollution and the issue of increasing health problems in India. But, why should the Diwali Festival, which is celebrated once a year be affected? Although there are many other causes that are even more dangerous. Therefore, the problem needs to be resolved immediately. Apart from enabling people in Delhi to celebrate the Diwali Festival according to tradition, a solution is needed that can make the use of firecrackers reduce the dangers of air pollution.
Air pollution levels deteriorate in Delhi on Diwali Night
So, the question is how can we promote responsible firecracker making that can uphold family traditions, reduce pollution, and improve health?
