We are FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) Team 1458. FRC is a part of FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), which was founded by Dean Kamen to encourage youth to participate in STEM fields. Team 1458 was founded in 2003, and is based at Monte Vista High School in Danville, California. We have competed every year since our founding, taking home awards such as Johnson & Johnson Gracious Professionalism, Excellence in Engineering, and a finalist award at the 2014 CalGames. We've also had success off of the field, such as introducing students to robotics through our outreach programs at local schools, such as Alamo Elementary School and Los Cerros Middle School. We've been able to achieve FIRST's goal of getting students to pursue careers in STEM fields by sending former team members to colleges such as UC Berkeley and Purdue.
