A go-to spot to help cheer me on as I tackle breast cancer
The latest, updated when I feel like it :)
November 17: Done with treatment and onto monitoring!
I'm happy to report I'm totally done with all infusions, and I switch to monitoring and figuring out how to manage the side effects of Tamoxifen.
But that's it! I don't plan to update this site anymore, as there isn't a need: we get to keep in touch in the ways we have previously. Thank you for being with me in this journey!
Love,
sara
In case you missed it:
I have had (!) Stage I invasive ductal carcinoma. It's cancer in the milk ducts. The "invasive" part refers to the fact the cancer isn't contained in the milk duct itself (it grows outside it).
I'm going into this pretty fucking healthy and athletic. I'm strong!
My year ahead looks like ...
Lumpectomy surgery to cut out the tumor - Nov 7 '23
Chemotherapy + targeted therapy infusions - 3 months of 2 separate infusions, weekly, ending Feb 22
Targeted therapy infusions continue every 3 weeks for 12 treatments, through Nov 7.
Radiation - Daily for 4 weeks, starting March 21
Daily hormone therapy pill for 5 years - Hopefully.
This can change as test results come in and I react to treatment.
I've got this.
I do not go to doom scenarios. I literally don't feel them.
I'm a friend, a lover, a dog mom, a writer, an athlete, and more. Cancer is not my identity.
So many women have this and tackle it. Why NOT me?
Let's get this shit done.
Crowdsourcing is great. Help me keep your ideas in one place!
