Who are we?
Team QST is a quantum information theory research group centered around Dr. Kabgyun Jeong at the Research Institute of Mathematics, Seoul National University. We began our research activities in 2020 and have since achieved excellent results with students from various fields of study. We strive to expand our research beyond limited fields of study in order to apply quantum computing in diverse areas.
What is the meaning of QST?
The QST embodies multiple meanings that overlap with one another. It represents:
Quantum Science and Technology
Quantum FirST (as a metaphor for 1st)
And our research fields focused on quantum, such as Quantum Shannon Theory.
QST does not have a specific meaning but rather represents our boundless capabilities.
Team QST also embodies endless possibilities for advancement, much like a high-dimensional quantum state.
What does Team QST study?
We conducts research on topics related to quantum computing, not limited to the following:
We conducts research on topics related to quantum computing, not limited to the following:
Quantum Information Theory: Topics such as private quantum channels, super-additivity of quantum channel capacity, high-dimensional quantum systems, quantum state tomography, quantum entropy inequalities, and quantum Shannon theory.
Quantum Machine Learning (QML): Developing efficient quantum algorithms for data analysis, accelerating and optimizing quantum neural network training, and other topics related to quantum artificial intelligence.
Quantum Simulation: Research on simulating physical and chemical phenomena using analog quantum computers and quantum algorithms.
Applications of Quantum Computing: Exploring various ways to utilize quantum computing in diverse fields, such as quantum computing education, improving GUI for quantum circuits, and cognitive science in a quantum computing environment.
What is the meaning of QST logo?
The letter Q in our logo, along with the cubes inside it, represents the infinite pattern that symbolizes the boundless possibilities of quantum technology and our capabilities.
The letters S and T are also commonly used symbols in quantum information theory and mathematics, and we included them in our logo to represent our research fields.
In particular, the T is represented with the symbol †, which, much like its meaning, encourages us to think creatively by considering reverse transformations. This reflects our team's innovative approach to research. The cubes, perfectly inscribed within the Bloch sphere representing quantum states, also represent a perfect state.
This beautiful logo was created by our team member Daun, who is also one of the best designers in the world.
