Team QST is a quantum information theory research group led by Dr. Kabgyun Jeong at the Research Institute of Mathematics, Seoul National University. Since beginning our research activities in 2020, we have achieved outstanding results with students from diverse academic disciplines. We aim to broaden our research beyond specific fields to explore applications of quantum computing in various areas.
QST encompasses multiple meanings that overlap with one another. It stands for:
Quantum Science and Technology
Quantum FirST (as a metaphor for being first)
And our research focus on quantum-related fields, such as Quantum Shannon Theory.
Rather than having a single, fixed definition, QST represents our boundless potential. Team QST symbolizes endless possibilities for advancement, much like a high-dimensional quantum state.
Quantum Information Theory: Topics include private quantum channels, the super-additivity of quantum channel capacity, high-dimensional quantum systems, quantum state tomography, quantum entropy inequalities, and quantum Shannon theory.
Quantum Machine Learning (QML): Developing efficient quantum algorithms for data analysis, accelerating and optimizing quantum neural network training, and exploring other topics related to quantum artificial intelligence.
Quantum Simulation: Research on simulating physical and chemical phenomena using analog quantum computers and quantum algorithms.
Applications of Quantum Computing: Exploring various ways to utilize quantum computing in diverse fields, including quantum computing education, improving GUIs for quantum circuits, and cognitive science in a quantum computing environment.
The letter Q in our logo, along with the cubes inside it, represents an infinite pattern symbolizing the boundless possibilities of quantum technology and our capabilities.
The letters S and T are also commonly used symbols in quantum information theory and mathematics, and we included them in our logo to represent our research fields.
In particular, the T is represented using the symbol †, which, much like its mathematical meaning, encourages us to think creatively by considering reverse transformations. This reflects our team's innovative approach to research.
