Welcome to Digital Frontiers, in Disney's Digital Kingdom.
Digital Frontiers highlights the early days of video games, the Golden Age of arcades, and the heyday of the Atari 2600. Early video games were a new frontier, and each new game pioneered new technologies and gameplay ideas. The entirety of Digital Frontiers has a retro, 8-bit vibe, and to highlight that, the entire land is covered and indoors. Dark lighting and glowing set pieces transport guests into an 8-bit world. The whole area "lives," with projection effects, ambient lighting, and moving set pieces. Outdoor attractions and flat rides also give the land life and atmosphere, and retro-style area music ties everything together.
A Fully Indoor, 2.5D Land
Digital Frontiers is entirely indoors, allowing Disney to have complete control over the environment and aesthetic. Layered, "2.5-D" effects similar to those used in Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway give the illusion of depth and expansive space, making the land appear larger than it actually is. Though the technology is similar to Runaway Railway, the aesthetic and style is completely different, and makes the entire land feel like a giant '80s video game.
Projections and Animations
Some of the walls and facades used for the 2.5D effect are also used for projections and animations throughout the day. The walls can transform into giant Tetris games, projections of Rampage, and more, all in addition to our elaborate hourly projection show, "Video Game Champion." See Entertainment for more.
Area Music
The Digital Frontiers area music is comprised of a large selection of tracks, all composed specifically for the land. Some are all original, and some are rescored versions of classic arcade game soundtracks.

Trash Cans
The trash cans in Digital Frontiers use a black and green circuit board theme. They're designed to fit in with the rest of the land, while adding a nice physical contrast to the mostly digital style of the area.

Restaurants themed to your favorite retro games can be found throughout Digital Frontiers.
Retail
With various shops and stores across the land, every guests can find a souvenir or two they love.

Dance parties, projection shows, and more add streetmosphere to the land.
