Camp Director
Head Coach and Alpine Program Director at Bretton Woods Ski Resort, Gus DeMaggio has been Director of Team Excel Ski Camp since 1993. Prior to Bretton Woods, Gus was the Head Coach of Kimball Union Academy race program for four years, Cardigan Mountain School Team for seven years, and prior to that the Director of the Loon Mountain Ski Team for eight years. He developed and directed an international private race academy, Team Excel Ski Academy, which placed five athletes on the British and Romanian national teams. Gus has lived and traveled extensively throughout Europe.
Associate Camp Director
A native of Romania, Miki Fera was a member of the Romanian National Ski Team for ten years, and competed in three Olympic games, three University Games and three World Championships. She ended her racing career in 1998 as the Women's Giant Slalom World Pro Champion. Currently Miki is the Technical Program Director at Bretton Woods. Prior to Bretton Woods Miki was the Technical Director and Ski Coach at Kimball Union Academy, Miki has been coaching young athletes of all abilities since 1998.
Alpine Coach
A current member of the Romanian national team, Alex races on the World Cup circuit. He was honored to represent his country in the Sochi Olympic games in February 2014, where he posted a best result of 21st in the Men's Slalom. In 2015 he raced in the World Alpine Ski Championships in Beaver Creek, Colorado and was 47th in the GS, before injuring his knee in training for slalom. Alex was a Team Excel athlete, coached by Coach DeMaggio and Fera as a youth racer in the 90's. He is excited to join Team Excel to coach for a third summer in 2015.
Alpine Coach
A former FIS racer and national ski champion of Romania, Sebastian (Sebi) grew up skiing and racing in Romania, and has since turned to coaching. He coached his brother Alex in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and at the 2015 World Championships in Beaver Creek, CO. In the off-season Sebi is a professional rally driver. Sebi looks forward to joining the Team Excel coaching staff again in 2015.
