Team Beta's current robot, named "Bruiser" because of it's black and blue color scheme, is the robot Team Beta made for the 2019 FIRST Robotics competition for the space exploration themed game. This robot was designed specifically to handle "hatches," a game piece that is typically picked up and stuck to Velcro around the field with the intention of keeping cargo in place. This robot can pick up and place the hatches with an ingenious design that utilized a flap on the front that would stick out to pick up the hatches through the hole in the middle of them, and then would go back to being vertical to grasp the hatch without a chance of dropping it. When the hatch had reached it's location, the drivers could easily drop the flap down, and place the hatch wherever they wanted. Another feature of this year's robot was its ability to raise the hatches so they could reach higher levels on the rocket.
