Lesson Plan Examples

Grade level: 1st/2nd

This assignment uses the story Yellow Dog Blues by Alice Fay Duncan and Chris Raschka. After reading the story, students think of where Yellow Dog may go next, and create collages based off of their ideas. It meets literacy and art standards.

Grade level: 5th

Students are inspired by Chicago artist Aaron Bohrod to create what they see when they look out of their window. 

Grade level: 10th-12th

In this hybrid writing/art course, students explore their sense of identity and personal memoir through both written and drawn exercises.
