Subtraction

The videos below show a progression for developing written subtraction including:

1. using a numberline
2. using an expanded column method which involves splitting or partitioning numbers before subtraction. This example has simple numbers (larger digits in the top number, meaning that no exchange is needed)
3. using an expanded column method which involves splitting or partitioning numbers before subtraction. This example has numbers which require exchange.
4. using a column method. This example has numbers which require exchange.
5. using a column method. This example has numbers which require exchange as well as having zeros which require exchange from several columns.
