Flipchart
Here, I've created an example Flipchart using Promethean's interactive whiteboard (IWB) software, ActivInspire. ActivInspire is a program much like PowerPoint, but is specifically designed for developing interactive presentations that provide students with opportunities to further engage with learning using IWBs. This lesson focuses on past tense verb forms for fifth grade ESL learners using a variety of interactive features such as pull-tabs, magic revealer, pen tool, eraser tool, and containers. In addition, attention was given to maintaining consistency with font, color, layout, and it also provides images, actions, links, and reference information. Finally, helpful hints and directions can be found within the notes browser for each slide. For more information about interactive whiteboards, feel free to view my post discussing their origin and practicality for use as an educational tool.
Note: In order to view this presentation, please install ActivInspire for free (design capabilities will be limited for free users). Because this presentation was designed using Mac, formatting may appear different when opened on PC computers.
ActivInspire at a Glance:
The notes browser provides navigation help and activity instructions. Pull-tabs allow students to engage with answer checking by interacting with objects within the slide. Tools such as the pen and eraser, located at the bottom, can be used to write/draw and erase anywhere directly on the slide.
"Magic revealers" show hidden text (such as answers) when dragged over particular areas of the slide. They can be custom designed or downloaded within resource packs available online at the Promethean Website or from other users.
