Abstract
'Entangled pedagogy’ (Fawns, 2022) acknowledges the important role that each component of the learning development process plays: with agency shared equally between academics, educational designers and educational technologists.
As an example of how ‘entangled pedagogy’ can work in practice, we would like to showcase The Professor’s Mansion – an escape room activity designed to help online psychology students revise unit content for an upcoming exam. We will identify and discuss the specific stages the development of the learning activity underwent, ensuring that each person had a voice and autonomy in its development. These included:
Shared vision and goals
Interdisciplinary input
Active learning strategies
Technology and Inclusive Design
Scaffolding and support
Collaborative reiteration
Feedback and reflection
Overall, entangled pedagogy put everyone on the same playing field and ensured everyone’s voice was heard and valued. By breaking down the more traditional, top-down learning development structure, we were able to create a more dynamic, innovative process that highlighted and resolved potential issues and barriers quickly and effectively.
