Abstract

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the dynamics of learning and teaching have evolved significantly: forcing teaching teams to adapt to the new virtual landscape. This Lightning presentation delves into the experiences and insights gained from this transformation: highlighting the changes in the relationships between lecturers and students based in Hong Kong and studying the Bachelor of Business under the University of Tasmania and Universal College of Higher Education partnership.

The shift from traditional classroom engagement to a virtual platform challenged our teaching team to maintain student engagement. We discovered that virtual chatrooms within our classrooms became invaluable tools: fostering continuous discussions and diverse idea generation. These online interactions not only enhanced student participation but also contributed to a heightened appetite for learning.

This Lightning presentation explores how the shift to virtual learning environments has not only challenged traditional teaching methods but has also empowered students to take ownership of their learning and develop life-long skills. As we continue to navigate the post-COVID educational landscape, these evolving relationships and innovative teaching strategies underscore the resilience and adaptability of both students and educators in learning and teaching together.
