"Teachers demonstrate mastery of and pedagogical expertise in the content they teach."
Teachers are teaching content that they have an expert knowledge and passion for.
Writing poetry is not an easy task!
I taught this lesson during my Step Two phase in the Fall of 2022. Students learned how to write cinquains, which has a strict form that requires a specific number of words. Students apply figurative language and beautiful words (literacy) to this style of poem while also connecting to mathematical skills by ensuring their poem has the correct number of words.

New Vocabulary
This is a worksheet created by me as a supplement to Practicum, Lesson 3. This activity required students to sift through an online thesaurus and find matching words in order to uncover a hidden message. (Sh this is a secret)... don't be confused, that's what the hidden message is!
This activity ties well with strengthening students literacy skills. To know a word is to know words that are similar. Finding synonyms for new vocabulary helped students to better understand what their new vocabulary meant. Although this does not tap into mathematic skills, it does require students to use a resource that they can use in any content area and in real life!
Knowledge of the content
Apart from having a passion for literature for most of my life, I have also grown incredibly competent in the material throughout my degree.
These are some essays I have written in academic settings that show my high level of content knowledge and appreciation. In these essays you will see a deep analysis of literature along with evidence that I am very knowledgeable in the explicit and implicit functions of literature.
Inquiry, appropriate evidence-based practices
These photos are taken from my lesson plans written during the Fall of 2023. They show my ability to scaffold the content for accessibility to all levels of students.
