Congratulations to Mrs Caitlin Kruger from Westville Girls' High School for winning the 2022 SAS Data Fly Poster competition.
"My grade 8 class had a lesson in the computer labs and I used part of that lesson to gather the data from them. They each had access to a computer and we could see the data 'fly' in as they answered the questions. It was really nice for the grade 8s to see a visual representation of their own data and we got to discuss concepts like correlation, albeit very informally. With my grade 10 class, I didn't have a lesson in the computer labs, so I passed my laptop around during a lesson and the learners filled in their answers one by one on the laptop. We didn't get to finish in the lesson, so the rest of the class sent me their answers and I entered them on my laptop later. This was also effective but it was really nice for the learners who could see the data and the graphs during the lesson. The graphs I used in the poster have all the data from both classes, so to get those graphs, I downloaded the data from each separate class and then re-entered it onto one."
