Launch at UKZN

Teachers4DataAnalytics - Launch at UKZN  (13 August 2022)

The inaugural teacher workshop was launched at UKZN on 13 August 2022, with 66 attendees, including  Mathematics and Science teachers from 26 different schools around the province and many teacher trainers from the College of Education at UKZN. Speakers on the day included Professor North, Professor Franklin and Dr Nombuso Zondo, a young lecturer in Statistics at UKZN, who presented the SAS DataFly workshop. In addition, UKZN's Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Albert Modi (College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science) addressed and welcomed the teachers, whilst Dr Danielle Roberts ensured that all teachers were clear about the opportunity to participate in the SAS DataFly poster competition. Mr Andre Zitzke, the Manager of SAS's Global Academic Program, also attended the launch.

Prof Delia North presented some alarming statistics on the unemployment rate among graduates. She stressed the importance of high school scholars choosing to study degrees where there are job opportunities, of which there are many in the Data Analytics field (Statistics, Data Science). This is what inspired Prof North to initiate the Teachers4DataAnalytics program.
