Your Cultural Edutainer will meet you at the foot of the Maungawhau/Mt Eden, just 15mins drive from the Auckland CBD. Your hikoi, journey is of the maunga that holds stories reaching back seven generations to when the city of Auckland was established through the gifting of ancestral land. Learn about the traditional rongoa Maori medicine plants and their healing properties.

Your Cultural Edutainer will meet you at Michael Joseph Savage Memorial, just 10minutes drive from Auckland CBD to begin your hikoi/walk. From the ancestral land of Takaparawhau that overlooks the Waitemata harbour and iconic maunga, Rangitoto to the majestic views of Orakei Marae all accompanied by stories from Ahika, the ancestral guardians and home people for over seven generations who live in a thriving Papakainga there today.

a 4-hour hikoi and experience through several sites of cultural signficance in Tamaki Makaurau starting in Auckland's CBD where you will be picked up by car or van by your cultural edutainer.
This curated experience is a deep immersion into the Maori world and the stories of surviving to thriving as Ahika, the home people of Tamaki Makaurau.
A journey that includes our ancestral maunga, Maungawhau, to Okahu Bay and the obsidian waters of our harbour the Waitemata, through our living village, to Takaparawhau and views of the Marae on our ancestral lands, before finishing at Pourewa where we have a thriving nursery and maara (food and medicine gardens) whilst utilising traditional sustainability practices.
