Olympia Police arrested a 30-year old man from Oakville last week after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with pepper spray while trapping her in her car, after doing thousands of dollars worth of body damage to her car, according to police documents.
Officers responded to the corner of East Bay and Olympia Ave on May 7th after multiple 911 callers reported a female screaming for help. Officers arrived to find the victim, who had clearly been assaulted with mace, attempting to wash her face and eyes out inside the nearby apartment of a concerned witness.
The man was identified as Justin A. Macmillian, 30, who resides in Oakville. The couple had driven to a friend's house in Thurston County after an argument, where the argument escalated, and Macmillian damaged his girlfriend's vehicle by kicking it,leaving multiple dents, and kicking off a mirror. She then left the house, being followed by Macmillian in his own vehicle. When the two cars got to the location on East Bay Drive, Macmillian drove up along side her and sprayed pepper spray at her face through her open driver's side window. The victim later stated that Macmillian had "unloaded a whole can of mace in (her) face".
Officers located Macmillian several days later in the 1200 block of Marion St NE when they were conducting an area patrol. A male, later identified as Macmillian, took off running from a vehicle into a house once he saw the officers. Officers were able to identify him, and they still had probable cause to arrest him for the previous incident. He fled out of the house and into nearby backyards. He was eventually brought down by several police officers when he wouldn't remove his hands from his pockets and continued to try to get away, and needed to be restrained using a "Wrap" restraint device in order to be taken into custody.
Macmillian was booked into the Thurston County Jail where officers located drug paraphernalia, believed to be used for heroin, on his person. He was booked on the charges of Assault 2nd Degree, Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree, (both felonies) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. According to the Thurston County Jail Roster, as of May 26, he is being held on $50,000 bail on the assault and malicious mischief charges, the only two that he was officially charged with by the prosecutor.
