Your safety and well-being are our priority whilst in our facilities. To that end, all lab-based researchers must undertake a Risk Assessment and complete a Safety Statement prior to commencing practical work within any of our labs. Your Safety Statement must be signed by you, your Supervisor and the Chief Technician.
Conducting experiments without a Safety Statement will result in suspension from the lab for one week.
Fieldwork requires more comprehensive Risk Assessment and Safety Statement documents. These must be signed by your supervisor to ensure that proposed activities are covered by the TCD insurance policy.
Safety Statement templates for both lab-based and field-based work are available via the links below. Please note there are two templates for laboratory-based work: this is due to differing fire safety protocols existing between the Watts Building labs and Redbrick/Simon Perry Building labs.
Please complete the Safety Procedures Form, below, to indicate that you understand the above requirements.
Further, university-wide safety information is available on the Safety Office website.
