Prerequisites to the Course

Required

Successful completion of the DNB Elementary Labanotation Certification (If your Elementary Labanotation Certificate was earned more than two years prior to this course, please take and pass another DNB Certifying Examination before you register for the course). To request an exam, please contact the DNB.

Recommended

• A minimum of 45 hours teaching experience;

• A study of Motif Notation or Language of Dance;

• A study on pedagogy/teaching methods;

• Sufficient knowledge of the English language.

  • Topaz, Muriel. Elementary Labanotaiton: A Study Guide. NY: the Dance Notation Bureau, 1996.

Technical Requirements:

• An email account;

• A computer with internet access;

• A webcam or recording device (smart phone, tablet);

• A method of making videos that can be put on Google Drive or YouTube (e.g., a cell phone, iPad, iMovie, or camcorder);

• A Google Drive account or a YouTube account;

• Zoom conference for tutorial session.
