Aims and Scopes
Thermal conformal field theories lie at the crossroads of quantum field theory, statistical physics, and quantum gravity. Through the AdS/CFT correspondence, thermal states in strongly coupled CFTs map to black hole geometries in higher-dimensional spacetimes; at the same time, thermal CFTs play a central role in characterizing universal aspects of quantum matter, critical dynamics, complexity and entanglement at finite temperature. This five-day workshop aims to bring together researchers with different perspectives on the subject, to stimulate collaborations across approaches ranging from bootstrap to lattice and reinforcing a growing community.
The workshop is part of the COST Action "Theory Challenges".
Dates and location
The workshop will take place from Monday 25th to Friday 29th of May 2026 (Sunday 24th is arrival day, Saturday 30th is departure day).
It will be located at the Orthodox Academy of Crete (Kolymvari), on the island of Crete (Greece). Please see the section Information for details on the venue and how to reach it.
