CATEGORIES:
PANEL INTERVIEW - Before pageant each contestant sits with judges. ATTIRE: Business
ACADEMICS - REQUIRED to provide official transcripts. Electronic copies are accepted. GPA is a part of the overall score
OPENING SCENE - This scene is a GROUP PERFORMANCE and includes CHOREOGRAPHY. Each candidate will give a formal ORAL INTRODUCTION to the audience.
SWIMSUIT - Your Choice. Tasteful. Activewear is an acceptable option.
TALENT - Your Choice. The chapter is responsible for loading props to the venue, on-stage and off the stage. No longer than 4 minutes
FORMAL // Q&A - A chapter representative is needed to escort your queen. Questions given after the panel interview.
REQUIREMENTS:
To enter an Official Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant, the contestant must meet certain basic requirements and agree to abide by all rules of the Local, District, Regional, and National Miss Black and Gold Pageants now in effect or as announced hereafter.
Entrant agrees that the time, manner, and method of judging shall be solely at the discretion of the Miss Black and Gold Pageant Committee and that the decision of the judges will be final.
Entrant agrees that if selected as the winner of this pageant, she will not sign a management contract with any individual or corporation and that she will not give any written or verbal endorsement of any mercantile commodity or commercial organization, nor will she permit any photographs to be used in connection with any advertised commodity or service not associated with this contest, without the permission of Miss Black and Gold Pageant Coordinator and his committee.
The contestant must be single and never married or had her marriage annulled and must not be and never have been pregnant.
The contestant must be currently enrolled in college working on her undergraduate degree and must remain in college to be crowned District, Regional and/or National Miss Black & Gold.
The contestant must be a female whose age shall not be less than eighteen, nor more than twenty-three years.
Contestants must be of good moral character and shall not be convicted of any crimes and shall possess talent, poise, personality, intelligence, charm and beauty of face and figure.
Contestants must possess and display talent in not more than a 3-minute talent routine, in which the routine must be presented live and not by way of motion picture film or video. This requirement does not apply to vocal or instrumental recordings used in conjunction with live presentations. This talent may be singing, dancing, dress designing, oration, playing an instrument, etc. No one may share the stage with a contestant during her talent presentation unless he/she is her musical accompanist.
The contestant may be either amateur or professional but must be a college student.

OPENING SCENE - Modern Glamour: ALL WHITE sleek, tailored business suit with GOLD accessories WITH YOUR CHAPTER SASH. NOTE: Wardrobe should allow for you to perform the choreography.
SWIMSUIT - Your Choice. Tasteful. Active wear is an acceptable option.
TALENT - Your Choice. Chapter is responsible for loading props to the venue, on-stage and off the stage.

Candidates will rehearse all scenes and choreography on stage.
11:30 AM - Lunch Break
A designated break for candidates to attend .
3:00 PM - Panel Interview (Business)
Candidates will meet with the panel for their business-style interviews.
4:00 PM - Final Rehearsal
A last run-through of the entire program, focusing on transitions and stage presence.
5:00 PM - Wardrobe, Hair, & Makeup (Dressing Room OPEN)
Candidates will prepare for the evening, assisted by their teams.
7:30 PM - Doors Open
7:50 PM - Line Up
8:00 PM - Pageant Begins
Scene 1: Opening Scene
Group performance with choreography.
Formal oral introductions by each candidate to the audience.
(5-Minute Intermission)
Scene 2: Swimsuit/Activewear
Candidates will model swimsuits or tasteful activewear of their choice.

Scene 3: Talent
Candidates perform their talents (3-minute maximum).
Chapters are responsible for managing props on and off stage.

Scene 4: Formal Wear & Q&A
Candidates will showcase formal wear.
A chapter representative will escort each queen on stage.
Q&A session based on questions provided during the panel interview.

Prompt Start: Check-in will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.
FEE: A chapter representative is REQUIRED to pay the registration fee of $150 before the contestant can compete in the competition.
Late Payments: If the registration fee is paid the day of the pageant, the fee will increase to $200. Chapters are encouraged to pay the invoice prior to the event to avoid the increased fee.
Additional Reminders:
Don’t forget to bring your crown and sash! These are essential for representing your chapter and for formal moments during the pageant.
Be prepared to talk about your platform. This is your opportunity to share your passion, vision, and goals with the judges and audience.
The chapter you are representing is 100% responsible for reserving and paying for your lodging.
THE WINNER ONLY will receive a complimentary one-night stay on Saturday, courtesy of the fraternity, to attend the Banquet on Saturday night at 7:00 PM.
Transportation is NOT provided from the hotel to the venue.

SAMPLE BIOGRAPHY:
Christina Iman Jones attends Southern Methodist University where she is a Distinguished Scholar, Hilltop Scholar, and Meadows School of the Arts Scholar. She is currently a sophomore majoring in Dance and Health & Society with a 3.86 GPA. Christina has been involved in Boys and Girls Club, Feed the Homeless at Austin Street, Houston Food Bank, Grace in Motion (housed at Brookdale Senior Living), The Better Block Project-The Park at Forrest Audelia, and Operation Gratitude Service. Christina attended the Kinder High School for Visual and Performing Arts and has been a member of Houston METtoo Dance Company for three years and Houston Contemporary Dance for two years. She believes that the art of dance builds focus; confidence; determination; physical and mental fortitude! Her mantra in life is to always live with purpose and a giving spirit. She is currently an apprentice at B. Moore Dance Company where she learns and performs various dance repertories across the country including most recently at The Joyce Theater in New York City. Through this art form, Christina has been able to build and establish professional relationships. Christina is also a Student Intern with the Southern Methodist University football team in the Recruiting Operations Department. In her role, she assists in the recruitment of potential student-athletes looking to attend SMU by setting up special events, hosting campus visits, and engaging in mailing campaigns. All of her opportunities have afforded her to develop leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. When Christina is not studying or dancing, she enjoys watching movies and spending time with family and her twin brother, Miles. She is also strong in her faith and attends The Luke Church in Humble.

Greetings ladies and gentlemen my name is Shayla Nicole Jackson a 21 year old senior mechanical engineering major hailing from Fort Wo, Texas. I am honored to represent the Eta Gamma chapter of from the illustrious Praire View A&M University. I am an active member the National Society of Black Engineer, The American of Society of, and Women In Stem. On campus I am involved in many organization including, student governement association along with serving as presidnet of the Women's Associaiton. My plans upon graduation include becoming a president of major cooperation adn to continue my education and obtain my masters in business education. My platform focused on closing the wealth gap by improving financial literacy among black men and women through self-investment and service to our commnunity. My overall goal is decrease poverty and create more black billionaires. I live by these words, "it's not what you cannot do, but what you can do" as a daily reminder of the power within to be resilent in the face of adversity.
