Hello Orangetheory New Providence family, and welcome to the 2025 Transformation Challenge!
I wanted to thank you all for participating in this year’s challenge. You’ve probably heard me mention it in class, but taking part in the TC is a great way to start the new year by setting some new goals and establishing some new habits, all while being able to quantify the progress by the end. Committing to oneself is never easy, but you’ve all opted to make that commitment, and for that, I commend you all!
Hopefully we have completed our InBody Scans. If not, there is still some time. If you were unable to fit it in this weekend, please make time to pop into the studio at your earliest convenience to complete it so that we can jot down your results and keep you eligible for the final prize.
Speaking of the InBody Scan, I wanted to take this opportunity to contextualize some of the numbers that we see in the results. The results were not only emailed to you, but they also are available in the Orangetheory mobile app (go to the Performance Summaries at the bottom-right corner of the app, then select ‘Body Comp’ from the tabs at the top of the page). There is nothing to be frightened or discouraged about, this is merely a starting point. We will be holding a workshop about Interpreting the In-Body Results; it will be held in the studio on Saturday, January 18 at 12:15pm. Please contact the studio or stop by the front desk to sign yourself up!
Generally speaking, a good and realistic target to shoot for is lowering your body fat percentage by 1-2% over the course of the Transformation Challenge. Keep in mind, by participating in the Transformation Challenge, we’re committing to attend class at least 3 times per week for six of the eight weeks. The more invested you are in other aspects of fitness and wellness (getting adequate sleep regularly, maintaining an optimal diet, managing stress levels, etc), it is possible to lower body fat percentage by an even greater margin during the TC. But gradual progress is more sustainable over the long term. It is important to focus on attending class regularly as well as recognizing what we’re doing outside of the studio. I’ll send out a weekly email with a different focus to help keep you on track, so feel free to use me as a resource as often as necessary.
The theme for the first week of the TC is ‘Building the Habit’. In fact, your weekly challenge amongst your teams is geared towards class attendance! So the more members of your team coming to class over the first week, the greater your chances are of claiming an early prize! Some of us might come to class every day (or just about), while some of us might come once every few days. We can this week, though, set the intention of coming to class at least three times per week as that is a core requirement of the TC. In order to help achieve this, think about prebooking your classes for the week based on your availability, and putting it in your calendar so that you remember to attend and stay accountable. I would even recommend spacing the classes out if possible, that way we’re able to balance our classes with some needed recovery days so that we don’t burn out early. If you already attend class more than three times per week, it’s great to continue that routine. Just be mindful that progress comes from consistency rather than intensity. Take your green days as necessary and space them out intermittently from your harder effort days.
We have set up two separate groups in GroupMe to help build the community and keep everyone on track with their goals. Please be sure to scan the correct QR code at the front desk based on which goal you are targeting (Adding Muscle Mass or Losing Body Fat). Feel free to engage with your coaches and team with encouragement, helpful hints, and recipe ideas!
That’s all I’ve got until next week! I want to again commend everyone for taking part in the challenge and starting the year off right. I’ll check back next week with a new focus, and I would encourage you to reach out to me or another coach if you have any specific questions.
Take care, and let’s work!
Coach Chris
