In this interview by the University of Cape Town on mothers' day, I highlighted how family dynamics affect the upbringing of children in my community and the challenges mothers (especially single mothers) face in societies with limited opportunities and tight social norms. Yet, they withstand and thrive through these obstacles. I am of the view that women are strong and brilliant, and when given the opportunity and the necessary tools, they can make a difference. In some communities, having a dream remains "a dream" and may never be achieved.
