In this project I'm describing the impact of social media on society and Myself.
In my survey results it said:
"You're fairly reliant on social media, but there are far worse culprits! Still, it's good to be reminded that UK adults spend an average of 8 hrs 41 mins on screens every day, and 4 hours of that on smartphone apps alone (mainly social media). That's about a third of each day checking apps. Do you need to rethink your social media habits and the amount of time you spend scrolling?"
I do agree with its assessment, while I could be worse, I'm definitely still somewhat reliant on social media. for example, I usually check one of my apps as soon as I wake up.
This statistic about social media really interested me because it shows that what apps you use isn't just reliant on what your age is or your gender, but also how much you make or if you live in a rural or urban place.
While i do see the negatives social media has like spreading false information or spreading hate, I also believe it's positive for many reasons. Social media makes it easier to connect with people and also see how people are doing and what their up to. for example, plenty of people use WhatsApp to keep in contact with people who don't live in the same country as them. I also know from experience it's just easier to post something on Instagram than texting everyone individually that something happened. while i do agree there are negatives like how spread false news for clicks and views and how easy it is to be mean and bully others i do also believe the positives outweigh these negatives.
I learned that i need to cut back on my social media usage somewhat and that my usage isnt as bad as i thought it was.
