Safeguarding
Thornhill Baptist Church seeks to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ known to all as one expression of its obedience to the Great Commission.
The Church is implacably opposed to all forms of physical, emotional, mental or sexual abuse, and of any form of parental discipline which crosses the boundary from appropriate child training to excessive punishment and/or violent physical abuse.
The Church is also aware that the most common forms of abuse include sexual matters, violence and drugs. In each case the Church considers it to be a moral and civil duty to take steps to minimize the danger of this in all activities within the Church and to protect children and adults at risk from abuse wherever it comes to its attention, and in particular where indications of it are apparent with children and adults at risk attending its meetings.
The church recognises its responsibilities in safeguarding all children, young people and adults at risk, regardless of gender, ethnicity or ability.
As members of this church we commit ourselves to the nurturing, protection and safekeeping of all associated with the church and will pray for them regularly. In pursuit of this, we commit ourselves to this policy and to the development of sound procedures to ensure we implement our policy well.
A copy of the policy is available in the church.
