Haldskyr: A DayLITE Setting

Original setting for DayLITE system

Released: August 2023
Publisher: Daylight Publications, LLC
Role: Writer & Lorekeeper

Haldskyr is a world of star-blessed heroes and cosmic enemies. Centuries after a celestial war, the Watching Stars have become the revered wardens of Haldskyr, and their chosen heroes entrusted with its protection. Looming in the dark spaces between the stars, the Void is returning, seeking only chaos and corruption.

I helped create the overall narrative and wrote the setting history. I wrote the major setting locations and designed 3 playable lineages and 3 playable careers. As Lorekeeper, I oversee future expansions to the Haldskyr setting and ensure the narrative remains consistent.

Excerpt from Haldskyr: Written in the Stars

"It is said there once was a great war–a war that spanned many realms and lasted many years–though few, if any, remain to tell of it. This tremendous hostility drew the attention of the Watching Stars, twelve powerful celestial beings whose generosity inspired them to interject on Haldskyr’s behalf. Endless stories have been told about this world-changing event. Some say the Watching Stars touched down on Haldskyr’s soil themselves, the warring parties ceasing their battles out of pure awe. Others claim the Watching Stars emitted divine magic straight from the night skies to end the conflict. While the truth of their bygone interception is lost to time, the Watching Stars remain the revered wardens of Haldskyr, seeking to protect the realm from the gruesome fate it once nearly found.

In each of the numerous generations that have passed since the ancient war, the Watching Stars have selected from amongst the peoples of Haldskyr a band of heroes on which to bestow gifts of power. Each hand-picked hero must face a unique trial. Upon success, the Watching Stars entrust them with new abilities and the divine charge of protecting Haldskyr from any who might wish it harm."

Excerpt from Haldskyr: The Constellarium

"Located on the western peninsula, the Constellarium is a significant destination for academics and spirituals alike. Part academy, part research facility, and part temple, the Constellarium is a vast structure built into the side of a towering, tree-covered mountain. Centuries ago, the Constellarium was first established as a place of worship. Constructed by the Alpans as an ode to Haldskyr’s beloved Watching Stars, the Constellarium’s ornate sanctuary is considered one of the finest temples in the realm. In later years, the Constellarium expanded to include a school in an effort to maintain Haldskyr’s history, knowledge, and practices for future generations. More recently, a new branch was founded to undertake further research. Constellarium researchers study a wide array of topics, but many have particular interests in the Watching Stars, the heroes, and the Celestial Trials.

The territory surrounding the Constellarium is made up of rugged, mountainous terrain with unmaintained roads, a natural barrier from the outside world, making the voyage treacherous for those who come unprepared. For this reason, many who come to the Constellarium intend to remain for an extended period of time. It has become a self-sufficient city unto itself, with bountiful farms, natural springs formed by glacier runoff, resident apothecaries, and an entire wing for lodging."

Annwn - A 5e Microsetting

Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition micro-setting supplement

Released: February 2023
Publisher: Daylight Publications, LLC
Role: Writer

Inspired by Celtic mythology, 1970s style, Fleetwood Mac, and campy aesthetic, the Dual Planes of Annwn is a contrasting realm that is both lustrous and dark, effervescent and decaying, harmonious and broken.

I helped construct the overall narrative and oversaw the setting's origin lore, as well as character design for four of the major NPCs. Additionally, I designed a new player character subclass and co-designed the original Rumors & Reputation mechanic.

Excerpt from Annwn: Characters of the Crown

"Gweryth
Gweryth is the de facto leader of the four members of the Crown. Known for her beauty and graceful demeanor, she is a dedicated patron of the arts and an enthusiastic promoter of music and poetry all across Zenith.

Rymus

Powerful and imposing, Rymus is regarded as the protector of Zenith. Though his stoic nature loudly contrasts with the unconstrained vivacity that the Crown intended at Zenith’s founding, Rymus is venerated for his great strength and impenetrable devotion to his cohorts.

Blodwyn

Blodwyn is known for her fondness of nature and skillfulness in the cultivation of flowers. It is said that Blodwyn can make anything bloom. She presides over the conservation of Zenith’s verdant landscape.

Cyreg

Cyreg is the most accessible of the four Crown members, often acting as the liaison between Zenith’s inhabitants and his divine companions. He is known for his youthful charisma and the colorful adornments he wears."

The Wildwood Knight

Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition Fighter subclass

The Wildwood Knight is a fighter who combines their mastery of combat skills with wilderness knowledge and magical training. Influenced by the assortment of ferocious wild animals found in the forest and jungle, a Wildwood Knight can adeptly stalk through dense wilderness while tracking their foe, and then expertly cut them down with their fierce martial prowess.

I created a fully playable Fighter subclass with 6 original features.
