The Product Design and Manufacturing project was instrumental in bridging my academic knowledge with real-world application, as it allowed me to bring an innovative product from concept to market. Through this project, I gained hands-on experience in each stage of the design and production process—from ideation and prototyping to refining the design for manufacturability. I worked closely with production teams to optimize workflow, ensuring efficiency and quality at each step. This project taught me the importance of aligning design with practical manufacturing constraints and customer needs, enabling me to create a product that was not only functional but also market-ready. By navigating challenges in material selection, assembly techniques, and quality control, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end manufacturing process, which has been invaluable in strengthening my practical skills as an engineer and designer.
Design Highlights: Innovative design, optimised component fit, and streamlined assembly for efficiency.
Outcome: Delivered a fully functional CAD model with detailed specifications for production.
Skills Acquired: Enhanced CAD modeling, component design, assembly optimization, and simulation skills.
The SolidWorks project was a pivotal experience in my journey as a designer. It provided me with a hands-on opportunity to transform ideas into detailed 3D models, teaching me how to think critically about design from both aesthetic and functional perspectives. Working in SolidWorks enhanced my skills in precision and problem-solving, as I learnt how to refine each component to ensure that it would fit and operate seamlessly in a real-world environment. This experience also deepened my understanding of manufacturing constraints and material properties, equipping me with the technical insight needed to create designs that are both innovative and feasible to produce. Overall, this project solidified my foundation in CAD and made me a more capable and detail-oriented designer.
