I've always loved watching sports. As a kid, I would spend hours on YouTube watching Lionel Messi, LeBron James, and Tom Brady highlights. Naturally, my first dream was that I wanted to be like them, become a professional in my sport—soccer. However, as I grew older I realized that my goal might be out of reach. During freshman year, I discovered my passion for journalism, and realized my enthusiasm for the world of sport could be pursued on the sideline. I began to not only look up to the players on the camera, but the voices behind it and the people interviewing athletes. I first experimented with filming and interviewing people for our broadcast program Gator Nation News (GNN) in 9th grade. Although at first I felt a little camera shy, I soon became familiar with the format and began to enjoy it. In my sophomore year, I wanted to try out live sports broadcasting. Through thorough research, I learned how to use Open Broadcast Software (OBS) and YouTube to stream games with advanced graphics. We launched the program and ended up streaming 19 games, lauding praise from members all across the community. This year, I've continued creating videos for GNN as well as sports livestreams for the school, and have also expanded into commentating games outside of school with professional freelance broadcaster Jesse Mayfield-Sheehan.
