A site-based performance written, designed & directed by
Hossein Tavazoni
Hosting only four participants per performance, the work begins with each audience member meeting one of the four performers at a designated location in District 6 of Tehran. As they walk towards an old mansion dating from the 1940s, each performer tells the story of a young man named Ali Asghar, whom they encountered briefly and by chance at different points in time.
The second part of the performance begins when the four groups arrive at the mansion at roughly the same time. Upon entering, the spectators are received as guests at the funeral of their lost friend, with the performers acting as hosts of the ceremony.
Throughout both parts of the performance, the walk through the historic neighbourhood and the exploration of the mansion as participants in a funeral, the audience and performers engage with memories of Tehran. Within this interactive and immersive setting, they are invited to reflect together on questions of love, death, migration, and a sense of belonging to the homeland.
