Tatheer Ajani, a Dallas native born to Indian immigrant parents, is a full-time lecturer at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). She received her PhD in Mathematics with a focus in Homological Algebra from UTA in 2025. She also received her master's and bachelor's degrees in mathematics from the same institution, so you could say she loves it there! When she is not teaching her lovely students, she spends her time watching tv with family, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching hockey (go Stars!), going to the gym, and dabbling in photography. Her research interests include uses of homological methods in commutative module theory, particularly dimension theory and uses of Tor and Ext.

Dr. Ajani developed her love for math early on in her life in 5th grade, when another math teacher down the hall presented her with a problem about the area of a rectangle, with some variables added in. She was immediately intrigued and it made her view math as a puzzle waiting to be solved. Since then, she has actively pursued math, taking as many math classes as she could through her grade school career. With a couple of detours, she ended up becoming a math major in undergrad and served as an officer for the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) student chapter at UTA. She published an undergraduate thesis in 2020, making her realize she wanted to go further to graduate school. She had an amazing experience at UTA, and decided to stay to pursue a PhD. 

In her time since, she has presented talks and posters at numerous conferences, acted as a mentor to undergraduate and graduate students alike, and since becoming a faculty member, has become the faculty advisor to a hockey fan club and serves on multiple committees within her department. She aims to cultivate an inviting culture for her students and colleagues.
