We shoot most Saturdays through the summer (1st October - 31 March).

For those who haven't shot outdoors before, we normally shoot at least one 60 shot match squad at the Hawkes Bay Pistol Club range at Bay View each Saturday morning.

Setting up the range takes about 45 minutes so that normally means an 8:20am arrival at the range Shooter call to line is 8.45am for a 9:00am start to the first squad. If you arrive after 8:35am and there is no target set up for you, you will not be able to shoot until the first 60 shot match squad has completed. A second squad if required numbers dependent, would normally commence around 10:15am.

The range is opposite the Bay View Bowling Club about 300 metres down Onehunga Road from State Highway 2 on the left. The address is 45 Onehunga Road.

Time limit is 75 minutes per 60 shot match and this is adequate time for most shooters.

The range is 50 meters and the targets are ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) standard which makes them similar to our current indoor targets. Most participants find the experience more relaxing than Indoors.

Target cost this year is $6.50 per 60 shot run of fan-fold targets through the target changers (5 shots per diagram) and a range fee of either $10.00 per day or $130 for the season which is payable to the HB Pistol Club. The subscription and range fees may be half price for juniors (under 21 in the year of completion)
