After reading all about social media, its impacts on society, current social media stats, and taking a personal quiz all about it, I am going to inform you about information on social media todays time.
Taking the "Am I addicted to social media" quiz, I have received the results of me being fairly reliant on social media. I can say this is somewhat accurate. I am on social media every day but there have been plenty of days where I have gone without it. So, I wouldn't say I am definitely "reliant" on it.
The most interesting statistic I saw was how Pinterest is used by more people than Tik Tok. I chose this statistic because it relates more to my life more than any of the others. Tik Tok is probably one of my most used apps, as well as all of my peers. In my free time I make create Tik Tok's and I can lay in bed and scroll on Tik Tok. Pinterest, to me, is an app where you look for ideas but not for long. Tik Tok is an app I could see myself spending time on, unlike Pinterest.
I could talk for hours on how social media impacts anyone and everything. Since I've grown up, it has only affected my life more increasingly every day. I think it most effects the upcoming generations. It has overtaken schools, kids, and education. There is for sure upsides but overall, I think there are more downsides. It has affected young people's self-image, beauty standards, influences bullying, and much more. It shows everybody how they are supposed to dress, what they're supposed to do and how to live. For example, when i was 11 years old, I was playing with barbies and playing outside until the streetlights came on but now, I find 11-year-old girls in Sephora selling out adult's makeup products. Social media apps such as Tik Tok have created this influencer base and influences people falsely on how to live their lives. When Tik Tok went through that period of time where it was supposedly getting banned, all of these influencers came out about how their content was fake. This just goes to show how much it affects society and the whole time it ends up being a lie. But again, there are upsides. I have learned seriously so much from social media when it comes to making my life easier and helping me with schoolwork. In conclusion, it has its positives, but I feel like if it didn't exist, life would be so much easier.
One thing I have definitely learned is that I definitely use social media way too much. And I think that goes for alot of people. After reading the statistics, I have learned how much people actually use social media and what social medias are most popular.
