Who I Am

My mission is to get kids excited about reading, help them improve information literacy, and practice research skills that will aid their understanding of what they learn. First Amendment rights are important to me and students will hear a bit about those in the library, too. I even wrote a post for the ALA Intellectual Freedom blog when I was in grad school!

I love YA! The last "normal" thing I did before the pandemic hit was take my middle schooler to see YA author Jason Reynolds talk about his book Stamped at a BookPeople event.

My husband and I met at UT. We were set up by a friend who's now my doctor. I adore the Beatles -- our youngest is named after John and Paul -- and this photo was taken when we saw Sir Paul McCartney several years ago. We have three kids. Two of them will be at Lamar this fall.
