An interpretation of the painting (1870) by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, depicting Beatrice Portinari in a state of spiritual reverie & transcendence. Pre-Raphaelite muse Elizabeth Siddal modeled for the famous portrait, based on a medieval poem from the 13th century by Dante Alighieri, for whom Beatrice was a muse and a pious guide in his masterwork The Divine Comedy. For me, this portrait is an iconic image of surrender & bliss.
