The name combines “Terra,” meaning Earth, and “Fathom,” meaning to understand or explore deeply, symbolizing the lab’s mission to achieve a profound comprehension of the planet’s ecosystems through innovative research and geospatial technologies.

The lab focuses on remote sensing, GIS-based environmental analysis, urban sustainability, and ecosystem monitoring, fostering collaborations across disciplines to address pressing global challenges related to climate change, land use transformation, and environmental resilience.
