The Importance of the ACHA & Club Sports

About Me

My name is Tanner Osolinski. I am from Littleton, Colorado and I currently attend Texas Christian University where I am studying for a BS in Criminal Justice with a minor in Philosophy on the Pre-Law Track.

Growing up I have been playing Hockey ever since I can remember. It is my first true love, and I hope to continue to spread my love for the game as I get older.

Today I currently play for the TCU Club Hockey Team. While our program brings many together we face many challenges, and I hope to shed light on why our program is so important.

Why is this important?

Club sports within a University provides athletes a safe environment in which they can continue to play and enjoy the sport they grew up loving. Club sports provides a network for people from all over the world, and helps to bring people with common interests together to achieve a common goal. In my personal experience, I have been able to meet people from a wide range of backgrounds. Each and every person I have met has helped me to see how the exposure to different environments is a positive experience that helps you go beyond your major influences. Along with this, being able to represent the school in some fashion adds a sense of pride behind each and every game.

What is the Problem?

Today TCU Club Ice Hockey is more than just a club affiliated with the school. We are an ACHA Division II competitor in the TCHC conference. However, the school still treats us as if we are any ordinary club. This treatment has led us to be neglected by the school, forcing players to be left in the dust as similar programs at other universities receive an upper hand due to this help. With hopes of making the jump to NCAA it is imperative we get the exposure and support needed to do so.
