In 2017, after successful participation in a conducting symposium that took place in France, Tanner was asked to conduct the Saline Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra started out with less than 20 members and now has approximately 65 returning members. In addition to free concerts to the public and acts to enrich the arts culture in the community, the orchestra also provides financial assistance to community members who wish to take music lessons but cannot afford it. Concerts frequently feature local professional artists and dance studios. Namely, Tanner and the Board of Directors developed a partnership with Doxa Arts Academy to help fundraise music and dance education scholarships for students in the foster care system.
Tanner serves as a regular Director/Music Director at the historic Royal Theatre in downtown Benton, AR. He exclusively works on shows for students aged 5-18. He serves as the Education Director and has helped design a 3-tier educational program for all students in the community to learn music and theatre to the best of their ability at little to no cost. The program culminates in an educational trip to New York City every other year.

Providing opportunities for students of all ages
Tanner was asked to be a featured performer and mentor for this joint music festival in 2018. The festival included students from the U.S. and China. The purpose was to expand knowledge of cultural and musical differences between Eastern and Western music.
