I designed this choir logo to be used for the district choral programs 6th-12th grade.
I designed a choir website that can be used by parents and students to stay up to date with news and events.
Attached are recordings of various choirs from our most recent competition in April 2019.
School history was made when approximately 80 students made the All-Region Honor Choir in 2017.
School history was made again when 22 students made the 2018 All-State Honor Choir. The previous record was 12.
School history was made a 3rd time when 11 students made the SWACDA National Honor Choir in 2018. This was the first time the program competed on the National level.
For the first time in Bryant High School history, 5 Best in Class State Titles were awarded to various choirs at State Festival on April 10th, 2019. Considering the level of quality from other 7A choral programs, this was a significant feat.
Bryant Camerata--Best in Class 7A Large Mixed Choral and Best in Class Large Chorus Overall
Freshman Advanced Women--Best in Class 7A Medium Female Chorus and Best in Class 7A Medium Chorus Overall
Men's Chorus--Best in Class 7A Medium Male Chorus
During my time at Bryant, I also prepared students for college auditions. 9 students (8 pictured left) auditioned for college choirs and were accepted with scholarships that amounted in $125,000 total.
Along with the signing day, the amount of students signing to college choirs was a first for the Bryant High School Choral Program.
In 2019, Bryant's top choral group, Bryant Camerata, was invited to sing with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra during their presentation of Home Alone: In Concert.
In 2020, Camerata will perform with ASO again accompanying vocals for American Idol winner, Kris Allen.
When I first came to Bryant, I saw an immediate need to build a positive culture that was conducive to recruiting and retaining tenors and basses. I noticed that boys in choir were not often in the forefront, so I set out to change that. The first year, I implemented a Dude's Day, which took place on a Saturday in September. It served as a day where the boys and I could focus on male vocal technique and also get some extra work in on All-Region music. We also partook in fun, team-building exercises.
This year, I invited other singers from within our Region to join us and recruited some other male choral directors to come in and help. We also opened it up to middle school/junior high boys. It was a major success! Most who attended made All-Region, but most importantly great memories were made and the tenors and basses felt a sense of importance and belonging within a choral setting.
I pieced together the above video as a promotional video for choir. Our numbers grew by 20% the following year. Most of the new recruits were tenors and basses.
I helped design the bylaws for a new Choir Parent Organization. This parent organization has helped with supplying snacks for students, chaperoning, fundraising, and even classroom supplies.
Designed and implemented the following choir handbook during my time at Bryant High School.
Helped organize food and other essential drop-offs for families in need during the Covid-19 crisis.
An initiative to build school culture and student achievement through collaboration and community engagement.
