Purpose
The purpose of the Wilderness Medicine Interest Group is to encourage interest and education
of members in wilderness medicine topics.
Goals
Goals of the Wilderness Medicine Interest Group include:
recruit and maintain an active membership
offer didactics and trainings on a regular basis, in outdoor settings
master the techniques required to recognize and manage medical conditions in austere environments
fellowship with persons who have similar interests
Mission Statement
The Wilderness Medicine Interest Group
encourages outdoor-minded students who also have an interest in medicine
facilitates student training and education in the management of illnesses and injuries associated with extreme and resource-limited environments
uses outdoor environments to facilitate education
serves as a forum for discussing current wilderness topics, research, and techniques
