Summer II, July 2023
Sustainable Energy
Switzerland
PROGRAM INFORMATION
Energy is an indispensable factor for the economic growth, development and is essential to modern society. Worldwide energy consumption is rapidly increasing, while currently most primary sources of energy are unsustainable. Renewable energy has the potential to meet demand with a much smaller environmental footprint and can help to alleviate other pressing problems. Efforts to reduce energy and its sustainability must include a thorough understanding of our energy resources.
During this 11-day program engineering students will have the chance to get an in depth look into how the Swiss approach the topic, and which resources and technologies are currently in use to protect and improve the conditions of our planet.
"Switzerland has been a leader in sustainability, both in its national policies and in crafting international agreements. In 2017, it was named one of the top five countries achieving the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals" (Gregory, What We Can Learn From Switzerland’s Sustainability, Discover Magazine, May 2022).
