1. The largest Russian poet, representative of Russian classicism. In 1786-1788 was the governor of Tambov. He did a lot to educate the Tambov region.

2. Russian statesman, Colonel-General, Doctor of Law. Hero of the Russian Federation (1999). From May 1999 to March 2001, Minister of the Interior of Russia, from 2001 to March 2004 - Secretary of the Security Council, from June 2004 to October 2007 - Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - Executive Secretary of the CIS. Since December 2007 - member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation - representative of the legislative (representative) body of state power of the Arkhangelsk region. Born in the city of Morshansk, Tambov region.

3. Russian lawyer, historian, philosopher, public figure. Professor of Moscow University (1861-1868), Moscow mayor in 1882-1883, honorary member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1893). Born in Tambov. He owned an estate in the village of Karaul, Tambov province.

4. An outstanding Soviet biologist worked for 63 years in the city of Kozlov (since 1932 - Michurinsk), who managed to breed more than 300 varieties of fruit and berry crops.
