I opened the terminal and removed the .vscode/ from ~. I also deleted the Visual Studio Code.app/ from /. However, after deleting all that and downloading a fresh copy, I installed and open the editor and the editor remembered the last project I had. For me, that means that it is something else I need to delete but I can't find it. I went to the documentation but can't find anything about uninstalling the editor.

The solution to my problem was to cd to the following path... /Users//Library/Application\ Support and delete the folder called Code. That folder contains all the setting and is not overwrite with a new installation. Looking through the entire file structure, VSCode name folder different. Sometimes folders are called .vscode/, or code/, or Visual Studio Code.app.

Based on a recent comment, even after using AppCleaner, re-installing VS Code seems to still "remember" your previous extensions. This is caused by a ~/.vscode/extensions folder, which for some reason, AppCleaner can't "see" and is not listed in its UI. You will have to remove this folder manually.

I lost my old mac and had to reinstall vscode on my new mac. I thought I had lost all of my extensions but when I logged on the vscode they all seem to be stored on my vscode account. I don't know if that will make a difference.

Created in Ukraine in 2008, MacPaw is a well-known developer of maintenance and utility software for Apple products. The brand started as a simple student project by founder and current CEO Oleksandr Kosovan, and now sells a range of software and applications. Rather than selling any hardware, MacPaw is centered around own-brand products that help optimize the performance of other applications such as CleanMyMac, ClearVPN & Gemini photo manager. The company estimates that 1 in 5 Macs has a MacPaw app installed, and the brand has received recognition from a number of the world's biggest tech publications. Although MacPaw is oriented toward Apple users (as suggested by the name), the company does also offer a few products that support Windows users. If you're looking to save on that essential bit of maintenance software, check out our selection of MacPaw coupon codes to help you save on your order.

Just to let everyone know, we generated updated distribution profiles and built under 10.12.6 and submitted and it worked I guess. I have no clue why, but seems like there must have been some kind of bug either with XCODE and codesigning under 10.11.x or something changed in Apple's back end which we have no idea about that must have affected code signing recently.

I have exactly the same problem and couldn't find a way, so far, to fix it. I just made a few changes, submitted my macOS app for review and got it rejected due to the "Code has restricted entitlements, but the validation of its code signature failed." issue. I have no idea how to even debug this. Did others encounter a similar problem and found a fix or at least an approach to debug the issue?

Heh just had two app updates get rejected again. Looks like the code signing crash is happening at launch (again). So my new provisioning profiles I made only a couple weeks ago aren't working. Really ridiculous amount of time has to be spent on this.

I can't comment on how to prevent a provisioning profile to break. But if you get your app rejected during App Store review due to a CODESIGNING crash (without having changed anything relevant), you could try the following if you let Xcode manage code signing automatically in your project:

The only thing I changed is I noticed that somehow the provisioning profiles I set got listed under "Provisioning Profiles" and the "Provisioning Profiles (Deprecated)" areas. I changed the "Deprecated" entry to none in Build Settings. I don't recall ever setting those profiles in the deprecated area in build settings before, not sure if there is some legacy code in Xcode that automatically sets them after making a change somewhere. Anyway, that's the only thing I changed and the new builds passed app review.

Nothing works, now I read across a few threads that error code 36 has to do with files from an external hard drive. I think the drive that these files came from is still running on my mac so I don't see the problem. However I did have an external HDD which stopped working so it may be that the files are from there and cannot be deleted. Obviously with the HDD not working how can I delete these files? This is not a new development, this computer has been restarted multiple times and is up to date with the latest updates etc. Previously a long time ago I tried forcing files out of my trash and it created some sort of kernal problem that eventually (i think they where related) made my mac die and I had to have the built in HDD replaced. I would obviously like to avoid that again.

It happens sometimes when I do AppleScript on main thread. I use AppleScriptObjC code

and I use AppKit and other frameworks. If I run the same code again it works without error.

In other words it happens sometimes and for the most times it works.

Special characters in the name of a file, namely @ ! # % ^ $, seem to have caused error code 43 for some users. Additionally, files with names that are over 30 characters can sometimes be problematic to delete or move. Try renaming your file if this looks like the cause of the error.
