I have written poetry for my own enjoyment since I was a young adult and dabbled in short story writing over the years as well. Starting 2008, I became more serious as a writer and for the past decade have been associated with a talented group of writers in the Boston, MA area that grew out of a series of workshops taught by well-known fantasy/science-fiction authors Craig Shaw Gardner and Jeffrey Carver. The focus of my writing is the science fiction short story, sometimes with a mystery element.
A good writer also reads... and I am an avid reader of genre fiction. I am particularly proud of my home library.

Pen-Ultimate II: A Speculative Fiction Anthology
Super Sense, a Poem (It's 4th from the end)
From where comes the drive,
To pen screens full of thoughts?
From which inspiring well
Come the possible oughts?
From deep in the soul?
From our children, our mates?
An encountering chance?
Or simply our fates?
I sit and I wonder
I sit and I dwell
On why I wrote this
Why I felt compelled
Why I made up that story
Last night for the kids,
Or that song that I sung
To droop their eyelids
Where do those words live
Where do they all dwell
‘fore I think them or dream them
Do you know? Please tell.
‘Cause I’d like to go there
And swim for a while
In the ocean creative
Where poets can smile
Or, at least, sit on the shore
And watch the sun set
Reflecting waves of words
That I haven’t thought yet

Back in 2013, the online magazine Strange Horizons put out a call for submissions to help with fund-raising. I came up with the following poem in response. It wasn't selected, so I am presenting it here for your enjoyment. And, hey, if you want to use it to fund raise for your organization, shoot me a message on LinkedIn and I can tweak the last verse to meet your needs. Here is A Suitable Fee.
Hey you! Yes you – the one staring over here.
Have you been? Have you seen? Are you fully aware?
No? I didn’t think so. But it’s your lucky day.
I can tell what you need. What will fill out your dreams.
So, step forth, step up, step right next to me,
I’m sure we have something that’s just right for you.
On your left is a shuttle to that newly discovered star,
With that planet that seems to have life just like Earth.
For a mere ten billion dollars you can go too.
Only eight lifetimes round-trip - just a blink of your eyes.
What? Too much? Too long? Too far for your tastes?
Okay. Let’s move on to the next on the list.
Over there on the right, that’s the Portal of Worlds.
Through it live fantastic old races you knew as a kid.
Who hold sway over wonder and write secrets of life.
Ahh – you like that, I can tell. And – hey, it’s on sale!
For just half of your wealth, two pounds of your flesh,
One eyeball, three toes, all your hair and a song,
Our specialists will whip up a spell to step through.
No? Too rich for your blood? You like all your parts?
Well, in that case, let's try option three.
Over there in the shadows. You see that red glow?
That’s the beginning of the end of the roadway to hell.
It’s free, I’m told – it just costs your soul and a step.
But say bye to your love first cause there’s no coming back.
Hey! Don’t walk away. No need to be scared.
I apologize. Mea culpa. I got carried away.
And, hey, after all, there’s always Plan D.
Just send us a donation - a small monetary gift.
Not too little, not too much. Something just right.
And we’ll search far and near - we’ll mine special minds,
For those powerful words, phrases, visions and runes,
That will transport you every which where once every week.
See – Plan D is the best. Isn’t that a most suitable fee?
Yes? Great! Just make sure to pay it while you still believe.
