My favourite of our demos - excellent vocal from Kier (though he hated it), probably inspired by Ralph Falcon's Every Now and Then, or George Pugh's singing on Coral Way Chiefs' Release Myself.

I found this looking through our Music House dub plates. The rising synth sounds copy some of the weird synths in Bandulu's track, Tribal Memories (which we knew from the tape of Simon DK (DiY)'s set from Castlemorton. We loved that tape! Kier and I probably listened to it a hundred times).

This track - a remix of a Happy Mondays track - rocked a party that our friend, Vibey, put on in a Russian submarine. Kier and I played after Josie, a techno DJ, and we put on this dubplate to start. The crowd were there for house, not techno, so when the bassline came in the crowd whooped it up. I don't think we played it much again.
That submarine party was insane - a firetrap, unbelievably hot and claustrophobic. Have you ever been inside a submarine? You literally have to crawl through small holes to get from one part to another. I feel anxious just descibing it. We were DJing bent double on a stage in the corner of a room. This baking hot, dangerously-packed, low-ceilinged metal chamber.
Vibey had booked the venue as a pretend 1-year wedding anniversary party.

TAK - Get Down

Production notes:
Dub plate.
All sampling, programming and mixing by Kier & Tom.
Made at the home studio, Dunsmure Road, Stamford Hill, North London.

Another Music House dub plate surprise. I didn't even remember that we'd pressed this one up. After this version we worked on it more and more then recorded it with Chris from Big Hair engineering and it just sounded much worse (no fault of Chris's). It is truly possible to overwork a track and squeeze out its essence. Less is more, and even less is even more.

Dub plate.
All sampling, programming and mixing by Kier & Tom.
Made at the home studio, Dunsmure Road, Stamford Hill, North London.

Notes:
There are two dub plates of this that sound almost identical but this track is a different version to the one we sold to Classic in 2016. "Peace, love and acid", says the Phuture-style vocal near the start.

Dub plate.

A Music House dub plate.
We often watched on TV Saturday night police dramas like the one with Helen Mirran as the chief inspector in it. In one episode or storyline there was a bad guy/ sleazy-sinister drug dealer called The Street who dressed in a leather hoodie, or a long coat with a hoodie. That character was the inspiration behind the title of this track.
Kier and I wanted to release an album called 101 Acid Bongo Greats - all made with Novation Bass Station, drums and a sample.

Made at Audio Underground, Stoke Newington, North London.

The title on the floppy discs and DAT tapes was Organ. It was one of the trax we made for the DiY album that never happened. The bass line plods away unvaryingly through the whole track but I like the way the vocals build up. There's a reversed vocal sample the same as on another of the tracks from the Simon DK's set at Castlemorton.
