Kier and Tom set up TAK Records to put out on vinyl the house tunes they were making. The label was pressed and distributed by Intergroove. TAK Records had 13 releases between 1998 and 2005, with music made in their home studio in Stamford Hill and a space they rented in Stoke Newington, North London.
Kier and Tom DJed back-to-back with the Whitstable free party soundsystem, tVC, run by DJ Oz and his then-girlfriend Nikki. In a marquee in fields round Kent, they played mostly American psychedelic deep house music in the early-to-late morning hours to a mixed crowd of free-thinking, hedonistic party people.
TAK's third member and sort of manager, Stevie V, put on parties such as Underground Freqs, at London venues like The End, 414, The Drome, the Jazz Bistro and the All Nations Club. Kier and Tom played alongside guests from DiY soundsystem, Big Hair, and Drop Music. Sometimes Kier and Tom got asked to play at nights in other places, with people like DiY, Lee Jones, or Murray Richardson.
Kier died in 2024. Tom collected the images and music for this site after Kier's passing to celebrate and remember the unique creative partnership he and Kier had, and to provide a lasting resource documenting the little-publicised history of the label and the music.
