Takaya has the diarchy, with 2 coëqual diarchs serving as the head of state. Takaya has an elected Chancellor (Takayann: Báða, Comtak Béðe) that serves as the head of government within the kingdom. On 22 December 2024, discussions commenced between Takaya and Alex, who was prominent member of Stret Merdhin, regarding the potential reformation of Takaya as a protectorate. This initiative was spearheaded by Isha, an alter within the Myrian system, who expressed a strong desire to breathe new life into the micronation. Takaya was split from Stret Merdhin on 12 February 2025, following the resurfacing of controversy after members of the Micronational Association brought up the controversial past of Myrian. The first elections for Chancellor, then called President kicked in, the first kind of any elections since Onyxclan's rigged presidential election in 2022. Myrian won the presidency, but stepped down as president on 24 March 2025, following a bad concussion.
Relations between Takaya and Stret Merdhin strengthened over time. Efforts to establish Takaya's foundation continue, as the Taks actively worked toward building and solidifying their land. However, following a crisis regarding the Republic of Corsa in mid 2025, the Stretish Senedh cut ties with the Taks.
On Valentines Day 2026, Takaya formally published a decree on a referendum on joining the Kingdom of Rudharta as an Aditaman instead of a province. On 5th Císara Hjera 1084 (16 Feb 2026), Takaya voted 73.9% in favor of joining Rudharta as an Aditaman, while only 26.1% voted against the merger. On 6th Císara Hjéra (17 Feb), a law was passed in the Kingdom of Rudharta formalizing Takaya's full incorporation into the kingdom as an Aditaman. This period saw the king of Rudharta at the time, Lajut Prajut Liktensuvon (Takayann: Lajútt Prajútt Liktensvønú) abdicate the throne, and cede the throne to Chen Liktensuvon.
Myrian was made Princess of Takaya and Sallamá became the Viceroy, which represented Takaya to the Rudhanese Crown. As time wore on, Taks within the new Aditaman grew restless, with documents such as A Case For Independence written by the vice-chancellor Cynthia de Sanguine, of the newly made Workers Party of Takaya. On one of these regularly scheduled polls, 60% of Taks disapproved of the merger with Rudharta, and on 30 April, a referendum was decreed and issued by Chancellor Flyvi Avarða. This eventually saw 100% of attending respondents unanimously approving of Takaya's formal withdrawal from the Kingdom of Rudharta, and into its own independent micronation again. Takaya seceded from the Kingdom of Rudharta on 7 May 2026.
